Fellow Travelers

Fellow travelers on our solar journey.
Gliding along frictionless annual rings.
Never slowing towards our destination.
Gathering age as we go.
How many revolutions will we complete?
Fellow passengers returning to fate’s delete.

Fellow travelers seeking unique experiences.
Hardly ever being singular events.
Always paralleling other’s good times.
Never peculiar to one’s special character.
How many times together will we thrive?
Fellow passengers being happily alive.

Fellow travelers in sinc along life’s pathway.
Walking and talking without PC.
Knowing what the other thinks and believes.
We’re also quite sure of what we don’t know.
How much do we have yet to learn?
Fellow passengers being open in turn.

Fellow travelers seeking love and acceptance.
Beseeching others to see into our heart and soul.
Forever filling them with grace and forgiveness.
Pulling away the cloak of Satin’s selfishness.
How many layers of evil are yet to be pealed?
Fellow passengers will help us be healed.

The Power in Niagara Falls

I will paint a verbal picture of Niagara Falls, one of our natural beauties and a real bundle of sound, fury and sheer energy. Imagine driving up the road to Niagara Falls National Park on a bright sunny day and seeing a plume of what appears to be smoke rising from the river. A big plume! It isn't smoke. It's water spray and condensation rising hundreds of feet above the base of three separate waterfalls located at the end of the Niagara River that empties Lake Erie and eventually feeds Lake Ontario. What a sight! Then, imagine walking over to the edge of a 150-foot cliff right next to these gigantic sheets of cascading water...mind-bending to say the least. There, before your eyes, are millions of gallons of water falling to the rocks below, churning the pools at its base, and creating a never-ending flow of water cascading down towards Lake Ontario. So much power is generated that granite rocks are worn and fractured in years, not decades or centuries. It is a spectacular creation of god's natural forces ... think of what it might have looked like to the first European explorers ... the sound alone must have attracted them to this place from miles away! I am sure the Natives of the area worshipped the "Thunder Gorge" as a special gift from Their Father. We should honor its presence forever.

Now, climb aboard the "Maid Of The Mist" for a trip up close and personal ... she holds 100+ people and she edges right up to the deep spray, say, 50 feet from the falling water. Power! Loud rumbling! Haze! You open your eyes and the spray is so intense as you near the falls that you are hardly able to keep your eyes open to see the water leaping off the ledge and hitting the rocks below ... the spray is biting ... the spray is cold ... the spray is loud to your ears; mixed with the deep rumbling sound of the water hitting water and the pings of water droplets hitting your ear drums...wow, what a feeling of sheer energy flow throughout your senses!!

The ship stays there for 15 minutes ... it seems like an eternity. The people stand there with mouths agape ... finally, after a few minutes, they begin to voice their amazement with "This is awesome!" "Really cool!" "Wow, what a feeling!" and "This is spectacular!" I said most of these myself...it's a top 5 experience for me!!!

My legs were weak on the walk up the stairs to the elevator. The experience was sheer pleasure ... have you ever seen something that dwarfs you into insignificance? I now have. It has been three weeks since I saw The Falls and I can still feel its awesome power!

My Sister Dearest Refrain

Too many days have passed.
Too few days remain.
Sister dearest is my song's refrain.

Sister dearest is special to me.
Sister dearest is a tomboy up a tree.
Sister dearest is friendly and carefree.

Too many hours have passed.
Too few hours remain.
Sister dearest is my song's refrain.

Sister dearest is Irish thru and thru.
Sister dearest is teacher forty-two.
Sister dearest is a great mother of two.

Too many minutes have passed.
Too few minutes remain.
Sister dearest is my song's refrain.

Sister dearest is energy all do agree.
Sister dearest is as beautiful as Tralee.
Sister dearest is a grandmother three.

Too many seconds have passed.
Too few seconds remain.
Sister dearest is my song's refrain.

Sister dearest is sibling among three.
Sister dearest is the eldest oh me!
Sister dearest is very special to me.
